Connect PostHog to a Shipfox workspace

Create a project-scoped personal API key, connect its PostHog project, and verify read-only tool access.

Connect PostHog when a workflow needs read-only access to one cloud project. See the PostHog overview for the supported regions and access boundary.

Before you begin

You need access to integration settings in the Shipfox workspace. You also need a PostHog US Cloud or EU Cloud user with access to the target project.

Use a dedicated PostHog service user. PostHog binds the key to this user, so deactivating or deleting the user breaks the integration connection.

Create the personal API key

Create a project-scoped key

Select Create a personal API key. Give the key a label that identifies Shipfox, then limit its access to exactly one PostHog project.

An organization security setting can block personal keys for non-admin users. Ask a PostHog organization admin to review that setting if creation is unavailable.

Grant the minimum scopes

Grant only these ten read scopes:

dashboard:read
error_tracking:read
event_definition:read
experiment:read
feature_flag:read
insight:read
project:read
property_definition:read
query:read
survey:read

The recommended project-scoped key does not need organization:read.

Copy the key

Copy the phx_ value when PostHog displays it. PostHog does not show the complete value again after you leave the page.

Connect the PostHog project

Start the integration connection

Open Settings → Integrations in the Shipfox workspace. Select PostHog.

Choose the cloud region

Select US Cloud or EU Cloud. Choose the region that contains the target PostHog project.

Enter the personal API key

Paste the phx_ value, then select Connect. Shipfox checks the key's project access and confirms that it can run queries.

Choose a project when prompted

A key with access to several projects opens a project picker. Select the one project for this integration connection.

Record the integration connection slug

Open the new integration connection's menu. Select Use this integration, then copy the slug. Workflows use it as connection.

Verify the integration connection

Open Settings → Integrations. Check that the PostHog integration connection is active and advertises Agent tools.

Run either probe on the PostHog tools page. Confirm that the result contains shipfox_probe with the value 1.

Replace an API key

Create another key for the same PostHog project with the ten required scopes. Open the PostHog integration connection, then select Replace API key in the API key panel.

Paste the new key and select Replace API key. Shipfox checks the project and query access before replacing the old key. The integration connection and its workflow slug stay the same.
