# Connect Slack to a Shipfox workspace (https://www.shipfox.io/docs/integrations/slack/setup)

Description: Install the Shipfox Slack app, copy the integration connection slug, and use Slack events or tools.

Connect Slack to trigger workflows from workspace events or let workflows read
and update Slack. See the [Slack overview](https://www.shipfox.io/docs/integrations/slack) for its capabilities.

## Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

You need access to workspace integration settings. You also need permission to
install and approve an app in the target Slack workspace.

## Install the Slack app [#install-the-slack-app]

### Start the integration connection

Open **Settings → Integrations** in the workspace. Select **Slack**, then
start the integration connection.

### Approve the app

Select the target Slack workspace and install the Shipfox app. Approve the
requested bot scopes so Shipfox can receive Slack events and call Slack tools.

### Record the integration connection slug

Open the new integration connection's menu. Select **Use this integration**.
Copy the slug. Triggers use that value as `source`. Tool steps and agent
steps use it as `connection`.

## Verify the integration connection [#verify-the-integration-connection]

Open **Settings → Integrations** and check that the Slack integration connection
is active. Use the saved slug with a [Slack event](https://www.shipfox.io/docs/integrations/slack/events) or
a tool from the [Slack tool reference](https://www.shipfox.io/docs/integrations/slack/tools).
